"VISUME" a.k.a. Video Resume

 Hi All!

Today, I'm going to talk about making a Visume. I tried making one for myself, out of sheer motivation given by my Business Communication Professor T. Prasad.

There were a few things that I had to make sure of before I sat down to record myself:

1. Prepare a script, and memorize it.

2. Make sure the background is good and the room is well-lit.

3. The camera placement should be preferably horizontal, and stable.

4. Suit-up!

4. Know your audience and keep it short and simple.

5. Be clear in your speech.

6. Give it an emotional touch, smile and use hand gestures, but just the right amount!

7. Share with friends and family for feedback.

Also, keep in mind that your video resume is not going to replace your traditional resume. Not all employers are interested in a video resume, and others are worried about discrimination issues, such as hiring candidates because of their looks and voice rather than their skills and merit.

A video resume can however help in increasing your chances and give you a good opportunity to showcase your communication as well as interpersonal skills.
